Chrysalis

Drew a sketch of the girl a few weeks back and decided to continue from it. This was inspired from butterfly/moth cocoons, or the stage in which they undergo metamorphosis. I perceive it to be a dreamy (yet a tad bit creepy) process of transformation, which I wanted to invoke using the colors chosen and they way I went through the whole artwork. Also used a bit of cocoon (moth)/foliage references especially for the Bird of Paradise, Dragon Fruit flowers and the Bhrama Kamal flower.

On an unrelated note, I noticed that I do like painting "night scene" paintings with a darker than usual background and I feel I should make a day scene painting for my next digital painting. Any thoughts?
